How to detect internal defects in Cold Rolled Non-Oriented Silicon Steel?

Publish Time: 2024-10-16
1. Common types of internal defects

Cold Rolled Non-Oriented Silicon Steel may have some internal defects during production and processing. Common ones include inclusions, such as non-metallic inclusions that affect the magnetic and mechanical properties of the material; delamination defects that may cause the material to break during use; and microcracks that may gradually expand during subsequent processing or use, reducing the strength and service life of the material.

2. Nondestructive testing methods

In order to detect the internal defects of Cold Rolled Non-Oriented Silicon Steel, nondestructive testing methods are often used. Among them, ultrasonic testing is an effective means. By emitting ultrasonic waves and receiving reflected waves, the location and size of defects inside the material can be detected. For smaller defects, ultrasonic testing has a higher sensitivity. In addition, eddy current testing can also be applied to Cold Rolled Non-Oriented Silicon Steel. It uses the principle of electromagnetic induction to detect defects on the surface and near the surface of the material. Eddy current testing is fast and suitable for online testing, which can promptly detect quality problems in the production process.

3. Metallographic analysis

Metallographic analysis is also one of the important methods for detecting internal defects. By preparing samples and observing their microstructure under a microscope, internal defects such as inclusions and grain boundary anomalies can be found. Metallographic analysis can provide detailed defect morphology and distribution information, which is helpful for analyzing the causes of defects. At the same time, combined with chemical analysis methods, the composition of inclusions can be determined to provide a basis for improving production processes.

4. Comprehensive testing and quality control

In actual production, a combination of multiple testing methods is usually used to comprehensively detect the internal defects of Cold Rolled Non-Oriented Silicon Steel. For example, non-destructive testing is performed for preliminary screening, and metallographic analysis is performed for suspected defective parts for further confirmation. At the same time, a strict quality control system is established to ensure that every link meets quality standards from raw material procurement, production process control to finished product testing. Only in this way can the internal defects of Cold Rolled Non-Oriented Silicon Steel be effectively detected and controlled to improve product quality and reliability.
